The law requires that the maximum voltage of electric fences in this country is 10,000 volts. Often, the fence will be set between 7,000 and 10,000 volts to allow for natural fluctuations and to keep perimeters secure.
The legal requirements for electric fencing in South Africa are clear, in that the height of the wall on private property must be a minimum of 1.5 meters. It must also be installed by a registered Electric Fence System Installer (EFSI), who will then issue a Certificate of Compliance.
Wall spikes can be used on a variety of surfaces including fences, walls, and gates. As long as the top of the surface is 1.8 metres or higher, you should be able to legally install this security feature. However, we recommend checking regulations to be sure.
Flat wrap razor wire is made from a single strand of razor wire, which is clipped to create flat sheets, and is much more compact. Concertina razor wire is considered to be more aggressive and a more obvious deterrent.
