What is Electric Fencing?
An electric fence is a boundary or enclosure that restricts or regulates the movement of people or animals. They usually consist of electrified wires or other conductive materials and produce an electric shock when something touches them.
They are commonly used in agriculture and other industries as an effective form of security, protecting any machinery, livestock, and property from predators and intruders.
Electric fences are predominantly made up of several components including an energizer, conductive wires, insulators, fence posts, tensioners, bobbins, earth spikes and a grounding system. We also install lightning protecting and provide certificates of compliance for each new electric fence (Electric fence COC). All our installations conform to the following specifications: SANS 10222-3:2012

The Benefits of Electric Fences
Purchasing and installing an electric fence is moderately priced, especially when compared to more customary forms of physical barriers such as a wall or a traditional fence. The flexibility of electric fence design also allows for easy customisation to suit specific property layouts, meaning you can personalise your fence to your needs.
Low Maintenance: Electric fences require very little maintenance. The wires should be inspected regularly for damage, but they do not need to be painted or treated with chemicals.
Easy to Install: Electric fences are relatively easy to install, even for people with limited DIY skills.
Discreet & Attractive: Security fencing and gates don’t have to be purely utilitarian. Our designs give you high quality security gates to restrict access as you see fit. With different finishing options to choose from, you can match your new gate with your property.
Versatile: Electric fences can be used for a variety of applications, including security, animal containment, and crop protection. They can be adapted to fit a variety of terrain and livestock species.
Smart System: Because the fence is being monitored, it will trigger an alarm with any breach or short in the wire. Making it a smart fencing system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Electric fences are specifically designed to not use a significant amount of electricity, although the actual total they use does depend on several factors. The length of the fence, the power rating of the Energizer, type of animal or intruder you are trying to deter are the variables that have to be considered.
Modern electric fences, such as the ones available at Clearview, are designed to deliver short pulses of high voltage electric shocks. The pulses are typically delivered in intervals of one to two seconds, and this intermittent operation helps to conserve energy while still providing an effective deterrent. The electric fence will still work in case of a power failure, as it has backup battery supply. Because this is a 12V input system it can operate via a 7.2Ah battery- but still deliver a shock of 9000V for hours during load shedding.
Here at Clearview, the cost of your electric fence will depend on multiple elements. We take into consideration the height and length of the fence you require, the types of materials used, and whether you request any additional security measures. Speak to us now to receive your comprehensive quotation according to your budget and needs.
Electric fences are legal in South Africa, but there are specific regulations and requirements that need to be followed. They must be installed by a registered electric fence system installer who holds a valid certificate of compliance, and upon installation, a certificate of compliance should be issued to the owner of the property.
Legally, warning signs must be clearly displayed signalling that an electric fence is in place. We provide certificates of compliance for each new electric fence (Electric fence COC). All our installations conform to the following specifications: SANS 10222-3:2012
